Takao Izumi, head sensei of the Ishikawa Judo Club, passed away on October 15, 2026.
Izumi Sensei’s judo was beautiful to watch, precise and effortless. He gave his time freely and always put the club and its members ahead of himself. Generations of students learned from him that judo is about respect and humility as much as it is about technique.
The Ishikawa Judo Club shared this message: “Thank you, Sensei. You’ll be missed on the mat and off it.”
