The Judo BC Next Wave is a new program being developed for U12 and U14 judo athletes (ages 10–13). This program will prioritizes fun, foundational skill-building, team building and self-discovery and will serve as an introduction to the Judo BC Provincial Team program.
The program pilot is scheduled for May 30th in Metro Vancouver and will be rolled out to other regions in the 2026-27 season.
The pilot session will be split into two and will feature a morning block focused on movement and gymnastics (coordination, balance, and movement games), and an afternoon block covering judo fundamentals like kuzushi and uchikomi.
All participants will receive a Next Wave patch, event T-shirt, group photo, and will get to enjoy a Summer BBQ.
Cost – $50/athlete, free for club coaches
Registration will be capped at 50 athletes.

Judo BC is hosting an online club meeting for all Club Administrators and Head Senseis on Saturday, June 20th. This is an important opportunity to connect with the provincial office, hear about what’s ahead for the judo in British Columbia, and ask questions directly to staff and leadership.

The meeting will cover several key topics shaping the future of judo in our province.

We will be presenting and discussing the draft 2026–2031 Strategic Plan, Judo BC’s roadmap for the next five years. Your input and awareness as club leaders is essential as we move this work forward together.

This meeting with also include Regional Planning Sessions for the 2026–27 season. These sessions are designed to bring clubs together at a regional level to coordinate calendars, share resources, and strengthen our collective programming across BC.

In addition, we’ll be sharing important updates for the upcoming 2026–27 season, including a preview of the new Judo Canada Registration System and Database, which is scheduled to launch July 1, 2026. This new system will affect how clubs register members and manage their rosters, so we want to ensure administrators have the information they need in advance of the transition.

The meeting will close with a Q&A period — we encourage all attendees to come with questions.
