• Sandy Kent
  President

Sandy joined the Judo BC Board of Director in 2004 where he served as Treasurer for three consecutive terms. He was elected to his first term as President in 2009.

He currently holds the rank of Sandan and as several years of competitive experience at the national and international level. During his competitive years Sandy was a three time National Champion and Pan American Bronze medalist. Although not certified Sandy has taken many NCCP courses including Level 1, 2 & 3 Technical course and the new DA courses.

• Al Hadvick
  1st Vice President

Al’s passion for judo start in 1964 with the Westminster Judo Club after being inspired by Doug Rogers’ silver medal performance at the Tokyo Olympics.

He currently holds the rank of Godan, is a level 2 NCCP coach and certified National A Referee.

He has served several terms as President, Vice President or a committee member at both at the Judo Canada and Judo BC level since 1975. During his competition year, Al represented BC at 9 national championships. He also managed two National Teams for Judo Canada, including 1990 New Zealand Commonwealth Games Team.

• Sandra Hewson
  2nd Vice President

Sandra joined the Judo BC Board of Directors in June 2011.

She started judo at age 14 in England. She currently holds the rank of Nidan and is actively competing in both shiai and kata competitions at the national and international level. She and her partner won gold in Ju no Kata at Edmonton 2011 and bronze in the 2011 Canadian Nationals. She won gold in Masters at the 2009 Edmonton International shiai, silver in Masters shiai and Ju no Kata at the All Women’s competition in Ohio 2009 and bronze in the Open division at the PanAmerican Masters in Orlando 2010.

Sandra is an NCCP certified Dojo Instructor and looking to certify as a Competition Development coach (replaces the old Level 3) in 2011. She is also a certified Provincial ‘A’ referee.

Sandra was recently named the BC representative on the Judo Canada Women’s Leadership Committee.

  Secretary

Sean joined the Board of Directors in 2010. He currently holds the rank of Yondan and is a National A referee with ten years experience. Sean was a Junior National medalist and competed at several Senior Nationals.
