Board of Directors/Executive Committee
Sandy joined the Judo BC Board of Director in 2004 where he served as Treasurer for three consecutive terms. He was elected to his first term as President in 2009.
He currently holds the rank of Sandan and as several years of competitive experience at t he national and international level. During his competitive years Sandy was a three time National Champion and Pan American Bronze medalist. Although not certified Sandy has taken many NCCP courses including Level 1, 2 & 3 Technical course and the new DA courses.
1st Vice President
Ramon is the newest member of the Judo BC Board of Directors elected in June 2014. He started Judo in Venezuela in the mid 1970`s before moving to the USA to attend university in Fresno, California in 1978, where he trained with Imamura Sensei, head instructor of the CSUF Judo Club and the Fresno Judo Club.
Upon moving to Vancouver in 1984 Ramon first practiced at the Vancouver Judo Club with Tamoto Sensei before moving to the Burnaby Judo Club where he has been a member ever since.
Currently he works as an immigration consultant with NKIC and continues to be involved in software related projects as an independent consultant. Previously Ramon has worked as an agronomist, software developer, software architect, business analyst, and project manager.
Previous sport volunteer work includes 8 years as a Director of the Capilano Mini Rugby Club, the largest of its kind in North America.
2nd Vice President
Bruce joined the Judo BC Board of Directors in 2009 where he served as Treasurer for two consecutive terms. He holds the rank of Yondan and is the co-founder, President and Head Sensei of Delta Kaigan Judo Club, NCCP certified Level III Coach, Chair of the Coach Development Committee, Fundamental Movement Skills Learning Facilitator and Master Learning Facilitator for Judo BC.
Eric started Judo at the Victoria Judo Club in 1984, and was an active member there until 2001, when he moved to Hong Kong. He join the Judo BC Board of Directors in 2013. Eric was an active member of the Hong Kong Judo Kan from 2001-2008, and joined Port Coquitlam Judo Club when he returned to Canada. He holds the rank of Godan from the Kodokan, is qualified as a NCCP Level 2/Dojo Instructor, and competes in Masters and Kata divisions. He won gold medals in Masters division at the Canadian Nationals in 2011 and 2012.
In his professional life, Eric is a Chartered Accountant working for a medium sized public accounting firm in downtown Vancouver. His work involves public company audit, and assisting various entities in meeting their financial reporting requirements. He was the Treasurer of the Victoria Judo Club from 1996-2001, and has been involved with car club boards for more than 15 years.
Wayne was elected to the Board of Directors in 2016. He joined the Victoria Judo Club in 1976 with Inouye Sensei . He holds the rank of a Kodokan Godan. Throughout his Judo life, Wayne was at one time a member of the national team. He has placed in two world police games and was a gold medalist in the Vancouver Nationals Masters championships. Wayne continues to be very active at the Victoria Judo and enjoys teaching and randori practice. In his police life Wayne is a Provincial Use of Force Instructor Trainer. He continues to teach personal safety and communication de-escalation skill to a variety of groups, peace officers, and security personal throughout BC. Wayne is excited to contribute his knowledge and skills gained with the BC Judo family.
